July 22
Rose at 5am to drive to Penfield Beach in Fairfield, CT for a morning swim with the Southern TnT group. Five of us, including coaches Den & Kellie swam. The other two "participants" were in wetsuits for the first time, with attendant learning curves. I swam 1.5 miles, perhaps the longest single swim of my life. It is so much easier when there is not a crowd of people swimming on top of or around you, as in races. Learned that I need to track my swim better, as my course was not a very straight line. Except for the early waking hour, a long swim is a pretty nice way to start a day. Much more fun than the pool.
