Success. A great race, absolutely flat, with five repeat circuits on the bike, completely closed to traffic; 2 circuits on the run. Kellie predicted I'd beat 3 hours, and finish at 2:50. I actually finished in 2:42:10, which was really a gas for me. The bike was an all out push, because there were no downhills, and I don't think I have ever biked for 1.2 hours without a stop before. I ate, I took gels, and I still thought I would die at mile 5.2 of the run. I struggled on. To my, & her, surprise, I saw my niece, Katherine, cheering on everybody, a total surprise to see her there (she came to cheer a Yale Med. friend). Also, great support from former TnT people when they saw my TnT colors! It's a great fraternity, that stays with you, obviously.
I was happy with the 28:21 swim time, did 19.9 mph on bike and just under 9min miles on the run. Altogether a reassuring trial for Nation's Triathlon.
