You all were great. I Finished. Not Last. Not quite under 3 hours.

I completed the Nation's Triathlon on Sunday, with (I think) a smile on my face, and humbled by the efforts of so many other athletes to find a cure for blood cancers with incredible efforts on a brutally hot & humid day.
My time: 3hrs, 5 min, 4 seconds. With temperatures and humidity in the 90s by the time I finished, I am slightly disappointed in the very slow run time which caused me to miss the 3 hour goal. In my age group (55-59) I finished 9th out of 30. I also had a better time than more than half the 2400 finishers of the race. I was #1190.
But I learned a lot, and the point was to make the effort on behalf of all those who suffer from Leukemia, Lymphoma and lesser known blood cancers.
In the 20 years Team In Training has been racing for a cure, athletes and their contributors have raised more than $750 million dollars for research and survivor support.
In the Nations Triathlon alone, 700 TnT athletes from all over the country raised more than $3 million dollars.
And all of my contributors and friends should be proud, too. YOU contributed, in my name, $8,895, more than all but 10 0f the 700 participants. (Yes, we missed the top ten: contributions in my name were 11th nationwide.) My CT teammate Dave Murdock was the top national fundraiser, with over $20,000 raised. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!
I'll have more details on the race in a later post
