End of the week, May16

Well, the Tuesday ride didn't happen due to Thunderstorms. I have not had a bike ride this week, which is really bad for training (except biking to work one day, hardly a serious work-out). Did make it to the gym 3 days, and ran on Wednesday, about 5 miles at race-pace (just at 8 min. miles).
Tomorrow is the Bloomin' Metric Century (62 miles), the first time many of our team members will have ridden in an "event", and with lots of bikes on the road at once. My friend Bruce McGalliard & I will ride together (Bruce is a stronger rider by far, but very willing to take things at my pace). The weather is supposed to be abysmal (rain in the 50s): just one more training experience, in case the day of the Tahoe ride has lousy weather.
We're on the home stretch: next Saturday is the last group ride in CT: 80 miles out of Clinton on Saturday morning (& into the afternoon). Then on Thursday next week, we have to deliver our bikes to the transport service that is taking them out to Tahoe. So next week will be riding on my old, heavy, steel bike with the shifters on the down-tube. (It's the bike I commute with). But then again, heavy just means more resistance, so it is still good prep for the long ride.
We fly out of Hartford early Friday morning, June 5; Hang out & get our bikes, and do a short (20mile) ride on Saturday, June 6; join TnT riders from all over the country that evening for the pre-ride pasta dinner; then the real ride starting at 7am (I think) on June 7; and the pool party afterwards.

Good luck tomorrow!! I hope that you enjoy your morning. I wish that I could come down, I have a few friends who are riding and I hear it is a good time. I will be working up at the duathlon. I hope to see you soon :) Love, S
